Slapy ‚around the corner‘
27 srpna, 2021
this year’s only Czech swimrun is almost upon us, and to make sure everything goes smoothly and without any problems, we’re here with some useful information to keep in mind in this article below. So let’s take a look at course of the race day.
To start with, something for those of you who are not yet registered. There are few more days, until 11:59pm on August 31 2021, to register for the race online at the base price. If you decide at the last minute, you can also register at the venue for the corresponding entry fee. The entry fees are listed in the Race info section.
2/ Arrival at the venue
The start and finish of the race is in Nová Živohošť. Beware! Not to be confused with Živohošt‘, which is on the other bank of the dam! The crossing from one place to the other takes 30 minutes, also due to the closure that is on the road II/114 near the village Stranný. For this reason it is better to take the road from Neveklov (Benešov) rather than from Nový Knín. When coming from the west, it is better to take the Cholínský Bridge from below.
3/ Before the start
Check-in, paper, mandatory equipment. All competitors must check-in in the orange tent at the announced times (Fri 20-21/Sat 7-9.30). In accordance with current government measures, participation in sport events is prohibited for persons with clinical signs of covid-19 or who do not meet the government measures conditions (vaccinations, tests, illness certifications, etc.), which we as organizers have to check… However, we believe that this will not be a problem and will not discourage anyone from taking part in the race.
Please note also the necessity of mandatory equipment, which is a swimming cap of a bright color (red, orange, pink, green, etc.), starting number, whistle and for singles also an inflatable bag/buoy. The starting number and, as usual, the original whistle will be given to you at the check-in.
At the same time, we remind you that you can rent equipment for a small fee – hand paddles, pull-buoy, rope to connect the team members, or inflatable bag/buoy. However, the number of items available for rent is limited, so if you are about to make a reservation, we recommend doing so as soon as possible.
4/ The race
All main races start at 10.00 am! The route will be marked along the entire track, however, after the previous experience we recommend to study the route in advance and ideally also upload it e.g. in a watch. Download the maps and GPX files below. As well as a link to the ongoing online results to send to all your fans, friends, family so they can keep track of your performance and position from anywhere.

Refreshment checkpoints await you along the route. There is one on the SPRINT course, at km 7, and two on the STANDARD course, at 7km and 15km. The SUPERSPRINT course is so short that the first refreshment checkpoint will be the one at the 7km, i.e. at the finish.
5/ At the finish
What else but medals, homemade strudel, drinks and food, a well-deserved rest and even a podium for winners :-).
If we have forgotten any important information, do not hesitate to contact us. The sooner the better. We look forward to seeing you at Slapy!
